The motorcar offeredno. 84142 built november 22, 1957 was delivered to porsche importer, max hoffman of ny city in ruby red metallic with sealed beam headlights and tach in miles as its only options. Originally sold to a california resident. It was fitted with engine no. 67751, which still accompanies the car and will be sold together with it. The new speedster is believed to have been purchased by a californian first owner shortly after arriving on us shores, but from that point the early ownership history remains unknown. The history picks up a few decades later, when the speedster was exported to australia, where it came into the collection of noted collector and enthusiast, mr. Jones enjoyed the porsche before selling it on to sydney-based collector, mr. Needing some refurbishment, the new owner entrusted the speedster to porsche specialist morton automotive, who carried out a full restoration and a professional conversion to right hand drive (now back to original steering configuration). When stripping the old paint, it was found that the bodywork was in fine shape, with very little rust, and no major accident damage. The speedster was finished in the period-correct silver exterior color, trimmed with red interior and grey german square weave carpeting, and fitted with black top and side curtains. Mechanically the car received the same level of attention; a lightly tuned 912 engine and transaxle was installed, while the original, matching numbers engine and transaxle was packed up and kept with the car. Kazacos sold the car to a mr. Alexander in 2009, who would continue to use the car for classic car shows and rallies. The speedster remained in australia for the next few years, before returning to north america, where it was acquired by a collector in toronto. Offered here is an excellent example of porsches iconic speedster, the ideal choice for driving events, where it will surely run in front of the pack among other 356s. Offered with its original, matching numbers engine and transmission, none of the cars crucial components have been altered or lost. Expertly restored and ready to take on rallies such as the colorado grand and copperstate 1000, here is a fine speedster that would fit well in any collection.

This amazing example of the early 356 style is as much fun to drive as it is to look at. The convertible d is named for its coachbuilder, karosserie drauz, in heilbronn n/o germany. Between 1958 and 1959 drauz built a total of only 1330 convertible ds. The original selling price was $3,695. While maintaining the speedster look, the convertible d, which replaced the speedster, has a more accommodating interior with a higher windscreen, more comfortable seating, better carpeting and trim, and roll-up windows. 861545 was manufactured in march of 1959 at the stuttgart-zuffenhausen factory with light ivory paint. Lighting were the only options chosen. 86154 was shipped to hoffman motors in new york for sale. History on the car is lacking until 1991 when mr. Gregory warner, ceo of kia motors, of huntington beach, ca purchased the car from a man in los angeles who had owned the car for 15 years. Warner started a full restoration but sold the unfinished car to mari johnson of san francisco in 1995. Johnson had alex bivens of west coast haus 356 finish the restoration which was completed in 1995. It is believed a mr. Glenn schaffer of las vegas, nv purchased the car from ms. Johnson sometime in 1998, however there are no records between 1995 and 2001. Schaffer sold the car to the current owner in 2003. While under the current owners care 86154 has benefitted with many improvements including the addition of a modified 912 engine which produces 81. 2 hp at the rear wheels and limited slip transaxle and 4-wheel disc brakes. The original, numbers matching, engine has been completely rebuilt and comes with the car. The electrical system has been upgraded to 12v. 86154 has participated in the california mille in 2004, 2006, 2009, 2011 & 2014. It also participated in the colorado grand in 2005 and is ready for whatever the new owner wants to do, drive, show or rally.

Introduced in 1982 the 944 was a better equipped, more refined and more powerful sequel to the 924, with the same trans-axle for excellent balance. The factory-claimed 0-60 mph time of less than 9 seconds (8. 3 seconds according to porsche the ultimate guide by scott faragher). The factory-claimed top speed of 130 mph was also pessimistic, autocar having verified a top speed of 137 mph. The car had nearly even front to rear weight distribution (50. 7% front/49. 3% rear) thanks to the rear transaxle balancing out the engine in the front. In mid-1985, the 944 underwent its first significant changes. These included : a new dash and door panels, embedded radio antenna, upgraded alternator (from 90 amp to 115 amp), increased oil sump capacity, new front and rear cast alloy control arms and semi-trailing arms, larger fuel tank, optional heated and powered seats, porsche hifi sound system, and revisions in the mounting of the transaxle to reduce noise and vibration. The cookie cutter style wheels used in the early 944s were upgraded to new phone dial style wheels (fuchs wheels remained an option). 1985 model year cars incorporating these changes are sometimes referred to as 1985b, 85. 5 or 1985 cars. This one owner, so cal, coupe is in remarkable original condition and is an absolute pleasure to drive. With only 83,000 miles from new this beauty has many fun-filled miles left.

The legendary carrera rs is widely regarded to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest road going porsche ever. With its distinctive contrasting striping and wheels and the simple and functional `burzel` or ducktail, the styling of the rs is iconic. The real treat, however, is in the driving. It epitomizes the ultimate porsche experience with its immense tactility, balance, and nimbleness. This gorgeous example was delivered new in germany in june of 1973 and spent much of its life as a racecar in germany and the uk driven by ian fitzmartin who subsequently moved and imported 9113601446 to pleasanton, california in 1990. In 1994 the car was sent to uk for restoration and was sold to an owner in japan in 1999. In 2003 the car was returned to the us by frank gabrieti who sold 9113601446 to tom papadopolous of autosport designs in 2005. Tom performed $27,000 in repairs including rebuilding the engine and sold the car to ray joseph of rpm sportscars in february of 2005. Rpm sold the car to pierre ehert of santa rosa, ca who then sold the car to current owner, classic assets of san diego, ca in august of 2005. Under classic assets care the engine was removed to correct an oil leak and some mechanical issues. The car has been meticulously maintained and is ready for spirited driving or show. The interior remains in the original black leatherette with corduroy inserts. The only option listed on the porsche certificate of authenticity which accompanies the car is: m472 comfort version additional rear apron. It has had much restorative work performed, including a full engine rebuild and a thorough cosmetic refurbishment since it arrived in the us. This car has also participated in the going to the sun rally in 2007 and the copperstate rally in 2010. The driving experience is truly what these cars are about, and this car does not disappoint. Even among carrera rs`s, this is an exceedingly fine example to drive. The motor sounds good and makes excellent power, with a noticeable increase in urgency as the revs increase. The suspension is compliant without feeling soft, and the communication through the steering and the seat of ones pants reminds occupants why this car is such a legend. The fitment of modern tires helps provide enough grip to confidently explore the remarkable chassis, and indeed, the handling is excellent, with the slightest bit of understeer dialed in for safety. This is an excellent example of this highly significant model. This car with its exemplary condition and well-sorted feel is a genuinely outstanding car. The porsche 912 was manufactured by porsche of germany between 1965 and 1969 as their entry-level model. It is capable of up to 30 miles per us gallon fuel economy. This combination is possible because of a high-efficiency engine, low weight, and low drag. A variant of the type 911, one of the most famous and successful sports cars of all time, the type 912 initially outsold the 911, boosting the manufacturers total production until success of the 911 was assured. As production of the 356 model concluded in 1965, on april 5, 1965 porsche officially began production of the 912 coupe. Styling, performance, quality construction, reliability, and price made the 912 a very attractive buy to both new and old customers, and it substantially outsold the 911 during the first few years of production. Porsche produced nearly 30,000 912 coupe units. Sold to the public for street use, the porsche 912 has also proven successful as a race car, from production years to current vintage events. In the 1967 rally of poland, the second oldest rally in the world and one of the oldest motorsport events in the world, zasada drove his 912 race no. 47 to finish first overall out of a starting field of 50 entries. Originally delivered to porsche cars northeast, bedford, mass on december 18, 1967 in irish green with black interior the car is now bright red with a tan interior. Both the engine and transmission have been changed with the transmission slightly newer but still correct for the year. The engine is from a 1966 my vehicle but appears to have been rebuilt as it runs extremely well. This vehicle has had many cosmetic repairs and upgrades over the years. Structurally and mechanically the vehicle is very sound and, although some of the body work is not to show standards.

Porsches immortal speedster was born out of the vision of north-american importer max hoffman, legendary for bringing open-top european sports cars to the burgeoning us market. Based on the early american roadsters bodied by erich heuers glaser karosserie, the speedster took shape with hoffmans realization, that a mid-market gap existed for a no-frills race ready convertible. Reutter smoothed over the americans original bodywork, to result in a famous high-waisted bathtub style, which eventually proved to be one of porsches most celebrated designs of all times. This speedster was commissioned as a ground-up restoration, that included a complete refurbishment of all mechanical and cosmetic components. 82582 still retains its original engine #62860. Originally delivered by max hoffman of new york, little is known about the cars early days. It appeared in italy in 1991 where it resided until 2014. The restoration was apparently completed during this time. Construction of 82582 was completed in september of 1956. The only options ordered on the car were sealed beam headlights and a speedometer in miles. All bright work has been fastidiously re-chromed and polished. The under carriage and suspension was re-built and detailed. This wonderfully presented speedster is sure to attract the attention of any zuffenhausen enthusiast. It is eminently suitable for both spirited open-air motoring and vintage events or club meets.

Perhaps the quickest and fastest normally aspirated porsche 911 produced by the factory to date is the 1996 carrera rs 3. 8, and it is indeed a wolf in wolfs clothing. There is no hiding the cars intent, which is to cover ground in a hurry. This extremely rare and desirable automobile was the ultimate evolution of porsches type 993 chassis, and in turn, it was a step up from the 964 rs. As porsche historian karl ludvigsen wrote in his authoritative excellence was expected, the rs 3. 8 was one of several models built to fulfil the companys grass-roots commitment to gt racing. It was based on the carrera cup competition car and specifically conceived as a homologation special in a great enough quantity (at least 50 units) to qualify it for the bpr gt3 and gt4 categories as the rsr 3. 8. It was offered only to the european market and appeared after the original 3. 6-litre engine rs of 1992 had gone out of production. The 3. 8, says ludvigsen, represented the first major alteration to the 964s air-cooled six. The standard 3. 6-litre engine of the carrera rs was bumped up to 3,746 cubic centimeters by an increase in its bore to 102 millimeters, but it still retained the rss standard 76. 4-millimetre stroke. The 3,746 cc air-cooled horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine with varioram and motronic engine management and six-speed manual transmission produces 300 bhp. This engine, the type m64/20, is fitted with porsches innovative varioram variable-length intake system, and with 11. 6:1 compression, it produces a very healthy 300 brake horsepower at 6,500 rpm (with a 7,100 rpm limit) and 262 foot-pounds of torque at 5,400 rpm. The 3. 8 boasts newly designed forged pistons of reduced height and a relocated wrist-pin, both of which help keep piston weight below that of the base motor. The new engine also features dual oil coolers and lightened rocker arms. The latest version (2. 10) of the bosch motronic engine-management system keeps tight control over both the twin-plug ignition and the fuel delivery through individual port throttle bodies. A new hot-film sensor has replaced the previous flapper-valve arrangement, and at the exhaust end of the equation, waste gasses are fed through a pair of catalytic converters and out the twin tailpipes. Along with the engine updates, an important component of this competition-oriented machine is to make it as light as possible. The rs was brought down to a svelte 1,280 kilograms by deleting such amenities as the headliner, electric windows, electric mirrors, central locking, intermittent windscreen wipers, radio speakers, power-adjustable seats, a rear defroster, airbags, and sound insulation. Removal of all these bits resulted in an effective weight loss of 100 kilograms. The 3. 8 rs package added a number of performance features to the car, which included thinner window glass (reminiscent of that used on the famed 1973 rs 2. 7), simplified interior lighting, an alloy front boot lid and doors, lightweight interior door cards, recaro sports seats, a front strut brace, ball-joint front damper mounts, and adjustable anti-roll bars with five positions for the 24-millimetre front bar and three positions for the 21-millimetre rear piece. There was also a limited-slip differential, an anti-lock system for the 993 turbo brakes with big red callipers, abd traction control, and bodywork, which included a large adjustable fiberglass sport group 1 rear wing with ram-air intakes in place of the modest fixed tail spoiler that came on the lesser rs. The fuhrmann design followed the basic configuration of the standard porsche engine but differed in almost every detail. Fuhrmanns new design was tested on a wet thursday morning in 1953. It was a happy day for several reasons: it was three years to the day after the first stuttgart-built porscheand the new 1,498-cc engine produced 112 hp at 6,400 rpm on the first test74 hp per liter. The enthusiasm of porsche personnel was unanimous, but only fuhrmann had seen the possibilities early on. This formed the foundation of the now immortal porsche carreras, the ultimate 356. Introduced with the a-series in late 1955, it combined a supremely capable basic design with an advanced engine developed expressly for racing. The result was a true giant killer that achieved through elegant, efficient engineering what rivals could manage only through sheer bulk. The model name honored the carrera panamericana, the famed mexican road race where type 550s had distinguished themselves in 1953-54. The first road going carrera was internally designated 1500gs, the letters signifying grand sport. Normal 356s already had plenty of that; the carrera simply delivered more. On its 55 frankfurt debut, the carrera packed a rated 100 din horsepower european at 6,200 rpm (versus 110 horsepower for the racing version). The engine was such an easy-rever though that it could be routinely taken to 7,000-7,500 rpm without any harm. Though the 356 chassis could handle this extra power without major change, porsche took its typically thorough approach and gave the carrera wider tyres, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and a 180-mph speedometer. External clues were limited to discreet gold name script on front wheel arches and engine lid. This subtly made this perhaps the greatest q-car par excellence. Fuhrmann accurately described the carrera as a detuned version of the spyder, providing extra performance for high speed, gran turismo competition, with more power than the pushrod engine could produce. This boxster is an outstanding example of "the best sports car made". It is a one adult owner, local southern california car, always porsche dealer serviced with no expense spared. It has a clean title and clear carfax. The paint, body, and interior appear virtually as-new, and the soft top has been recently replaced and shows as new.
